What interior painting covers

  • Walls and accent walls
  • Ceilings, including textured ceilings
  • Trim, baseboards and crown molding
  • Interior doors and door frames
  • Living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and hallways
  • Home offices and commercial office interiors

Preparation is most of the job

A finished interior looks good because of what happened before the color went on. Furniture and floors get covered, surfaces get cleaned of dust and grease, holes and cracks are filled, patches are sanded flush, and glossy or stained areas are primed so the new coat holds and the sheen stays even.

Skipping any of that is why a room can look fine on day one and start showing flashing, roller marks or visible patch outlines a few weeks later. In a dry, dusty climate like El Paso's, cleaning surfaces before painting matters more than people expect.

Drywall repairs and texture

Damaged walls should be corrected, not painted over. Cracks, nail pops, anchor holes and water-stained ceilings get repaired and blended with the surrounding texture where practical. See drywall repair and texture in El Paso.

Color changes

Covering a dark or heavily saturated color usually requires priming plus two finish coats. Going lighter takes more coverage than going darker. This gets discussed during the estimate so the price reflects the actual work.

Rooms and how they differ

Kitchens and bathrooms need cleaning and a coating suited to moisture and frequent wiping. Hallways and stairwells take contact and benefit from a more durable sheen. Bedrooms and living rooms are usually about color, coverage and clean edges. Ceilings are their own job — especially textured ones, which absorb more product and need consistent application to avoid shadowing.

Interior work for homes and businesses

Interior painting is part of both residential painting and commercial painting projects. If a room calls for something beyond standard paint, ask about decorative and specialty finishes.
